  • Ali, what’s our first word we’re looking at? Our first word is a noun and it’s brolly. It’s a brolly. A brolly is a informal way to say an umbrella and if you go to London you need a brolly. Ali, when you went to London, did it rain? Yes, it rained a lot! oh so you needed your brolly. Remember brolly.
  • now the next one we’re looking at is knackered. Now means to be tired. Ali, when you went to London, were you knackered? I was really really naked. With all the shopping? Of course. And all the sightseeing? Yes, you do get knackered! yes of all the beautiful things to see and do in London.

So guys, that is our vocabulary. Now it’s time for us to go on to our idioms and collocations.

  • so what’s the first one, Ali? it is leg it. So legit means to run, especially in London, if you’re running after a bus or running after the underground, the train to catch the train, you have to leg it. Did you leg it Ali when you’re in London? a few times. A few times.
  • what’s the next one Ali? it is fancy a cuppa means if you want to have a drink. So Fancy. Remember a few weeks ago, we looked at
incredible. It’s something extravagant but fancy is also a verb that means to want something. So do you fancy a cuppa means do you want a cup of tea

Tea or coffee Ally? um coffee oh no no no no no no no no no no my friend. You have to drink tea. Tea is the greatest. Tea and beer. Which would you prefer D-man? Tea or beer? uh, there you go! thank you very much, thank you very much. There you go. There you go. All right. So guys so that’s some of our idioms and collocations. Grammar this week is about modal verbs. Why modal verbs? because you have to tell people about what you should do, what you must do, what you can do when you visit London. Okay, so there’s
some fantastic grammar for you in the platform.
